  1. Instructions for playing PBEM

    Starting a PBEM game
You start a PBEM game (play by email) by clicking at the entrance screen on the button "new email game". Now you have reached the campaign selection screen. Choose the campaign that you and your opponent like to play and click on "start campaign". Then you will see the screen where you can set the options and settings in accordance to the agreements that you and your opponent have come about.

We recommend leaving everything as it is except for the setting of the fog of war. Click on the box. That way the game will become much more exiting! When you are finished with the settings click on "OK". Choose any password you like, write it down somewhere, and do not give it away to your opponent!

Now you can play your first turn ... when you are ready, click on the button "ready" which is located at the top of the menu at the right side. You will automatically reach the save option. Name your turn (general tutorial for PBEM) and end the game. The save file will be put into the directory "Pbem". With the help of WinZip you pack the file and send the turn it via an email to your opponent.

    Loading of turns
After your opponent sent his turn back to you, you need to save it in the folder "Pbem". Start the game and click on "load email game", then on the save file and then on the button "load". Now you need to set a password respectively enter your password.
When you have played your turn, click again on "ready". Name the turn and send it over to your opponent.

  2. Instructions for playing Online

First of all, two players need to arrange to meet each other. That is done via ICQ or in the chat (of the PL). One of the players has got to start a game (Host), and the other needs to join the game (guest). The host needs to give his IP to the guest (general online tutorial).

    Starting an online game
Click on "TCP/IP" in the entrance screen. Then you come to the online menu. Click on "New TCP/IP". Then you select the campaign that you and your opponent like to play and press "Load". Now you reach the game options.
We recommend to leave the settings as they are. Only the fog of war should be activated additionally, since the game will then be much more exiting. After this is done you press "OK".
Now you have to choose the side you like to play (Axis or Allies). Then you set your password. Wait on your opponent. When he enters the game the war may start ...

    Joining an online game
Click on "TCP/IP" in the entrance screen and you reach the online selection menu. Here you click on "Join" and enter the IP address of your opponent. Now you set a password and the game may start ...

  3. Switching from playing Online to PBEM

If you are playing an online game and you suddenly don't have the time anymore, that is no problem. Firstly you save the game by pressing the button "save". Whenever you will have the time you can either resume the online match or play the game by PBEM.
To resume the game online you have to press the button "Load TCP/IP" instead of "New TCP/IP". Now you select the file you saved, enter your password and wait on your opponent. There is no difference in joining a loaded game or joining a new game.

If you like to finish the game in the PBEM mode you need to move the saved file out from the TCP/IP directory into the PBEM directory. Then you start the game, press "Load email game" and select the file. Now you are in the middle of a PBEM game.

  4. The course of a game

The game is a turn based strategy game. That means you firstly play your turn and then your opponent plays his turn. During one turn you can move your units and fight with them, only fight with them, or only move them.
Unlike in PGII you cannot first fight with and then move your units!
Furthermore you receive MPPs (Military Production Points) for each turn with regard to your production and resource capacities. With these MPPs you can buy units by clicking on "Buy units". Here you can select and buy the unit you like.
Likewise you are able to start doing military research with the MPPs. Buy a research chit in the menu box "Research" (costs 250 MPPs) and place it in a research category of your choice. Do not underestimate research.
On the "War map" you can declare war on other nations. Only in this way you can attack neutral countries. But be careful! Depending on which country you attack the other nations will respond differently. If you attack the Baltic countries i.e. after you conquered Poland you can be sure that Russia will be your enemy within 2 turns. Also if you attack Spain before your allies from the Balkan joined then Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania won't join the axis anymore ...

  5. End of the game

The game ends when all main countries of one side surrender. Main nations are for the Axis: Germany and Italy; and for the Allies: Great Britain, France, UDSSR and USA.

The game is furthermore restricted to May 1947. If no side manages to destroy the other until then, we have a draw.
